just one observation, I tried to process some tab separated files with the extension .tab and did get error message, that they are not valid Excel formats.
After checking the preferences
I recognized the tab extension was set to Excel format (by default?), after changing it to Delimited text it worked fine.
In case somebody runs into similar error message with input files, check the related preferences.

I think you must have accidentally added ‘tab’ as an extension. It isn’t one of the defaults.
