We are looking into possibly changing the default font for the data table. What is your favorite monospaced[1] font?
Please vote:
Courier New
Consolas
Lucida Console
Cascadia Code
Something else (add in comments)
[1]Monospaced=all characters the same width.

I don’t think Menlo is installed with Windows 11. But I guess the default doesn’t have to be the same on each OS.

in case you intend to support different font for the two OS, I support Menlo for Mac, too. If it is identical for the OS I stick to my core for Courier New.

There is no particular reason we have to have the same default font on Windows and Mac.

I tried Gill Sans MT on Windows 11 and it doesn’t appear to be monospaced. Monospaced fonts are generally desirable for tables of data.

Menlo for Mac is nice, Cascadia has the advantage of clearly distinguishing 0 and O.
As long as it is possible to choose a custom font all is ok…

Yes, you will still be able to choose any font installed on your computer. Including ‘comic sans’. ;0)
But first impressions are important and a lot of people never change the default, so we would like to use the best possible default.

Thanks for the feedback.
The new defaults will be:
Consolas on Windows
Menlo on Mac
We feel these are easier to read and make it easier to distinguish between 1 and l, 0 and O.
This will only affect first time installs.
In Preferences you can still set any font that is on your computer.
