I have build one of my fancy transformation files for my current project. With it we analysis of the status and copy out data multiple time a day. As it has now about 130 items we start to lose track. There was already discussion on “super transformation”, collapse groups of transformations, etc.
But it would help already if such blocks can be marked/framed with some form of headers or so like in the figure:
If the frames can be put in the background they can have a background color. It would be even more fantastic if the frame is move that all includes transactions are moved, too.
It is not very critical topic, but it would be a nice and helpful feature.
It isn’t going to make it into the next release, but it is high on the wishlist.
I had thought that they would have a solid single color background. But I guess some people might prefer a transparent background.
That is definitely the plan.
Possibly also collapse down to the size of a single node and then expand back again. But that comes with some complications (what if other items will be hidden by the expanded box?).
I didn‘t expect something like this in the next release directly. I‘m not a developer but as Test Manager and Demand Manger I‘m aware of the effort.
For sure the linked screen shot with feature to shrink would be optimum. In a first step possibility to frame would be a good thing (helping to keep track what is where in complex transformation flows) to be extended by shrink functionality later on. But you are the expert to decide what is the best implementation approach.
