Disable check for updates

I have a potential EDT client that is paranoid about software that accesses the internet. Is there a way to disable EDT from checking for updates on startup? Thank you!

Firewall with blocking rule

Currently there is no way to turn off the update checks.

You might want to point them at this page:

There are tools like Little Snitch in the Mac world, probably corresponding tools on other OSs, which allow you to observe contacts made by applications and block them if desired. At some point the client will need to download an update of EDT so connection will be opened, but paranoia is paranoia. How well are they fitted out with always-on anti-malware tools? That is more fruitful than continual apprehension over every application.

My thought was Little Snitch, too. When I wrote my entry above. But for sure HW Firewall in the network can restrict access, even until you cannot update at all

But in general it is a good approach to consider and check on the computer what application can do what. So I have a HW/SW firewall in my network and Little Snitch running and configured on the computer.
